After Facing Vulnerable Situations In The Mdeiterranean, Against The Missiles Shot At The Royal Navy From The German Luftwaffe Aircrafts During Wwii, A Strategic Effort Went Into Buidling Defences On Their Ships Sporting Surface-To-Air Missiles Systems To Give Them A Chance Against Air Attacks. The Hms Devonshire (D02) Was The First Destroyer, Along With 7 Other Country Class Destroyers, To Be Fitted With The First Generation, The Seaslug. These Destroyers Were Specifially Built Around The Seaslug. Using Beam Riding Radar Technology, The Seaslug Would Follow The Beam To The Target, Which Wasn'T Without Its Flaws As Only One Missile Could Be Fired At A Time And Against Other Ships, The Reflection Off The Water Would Make Radar Inaccurate. The Hms Devonshire Started Service With The Royal Navy From 1962 Until 1978. The Hms Splendid In 1984 Ended Up Sinking The Devonshire For Good In The North Atlantic While Training With The New Generation Of Anti-Ship Missiles, By The Sea Eagle.
