These Can Be Broken Down Into A Number Of Categories, The First Will Focus On The Thing That Connects You To Your Set, The Controller. Controller: Your Controller Will Likely Be One Of Two Designs, Either Silver Or Black, Both Small Boxes With A Dial And A Direction Switch On Them. There Are Only Two Things Of Note When It Comes To Troubleshooting With Them Both. The First Of These Is That The Direction Change Switch Can Only Be Moved When The Dial Is All The Way At The Zero Point, Providing No Power. Many Locomotives Will Stop Moving Around The 15% Mark On The Controller And Customers Will Then Try To Change The Direction As The Locomotive Has Stopped, This Does Not Work As The Dial Is Not At 0. The Second Is A Short Circuit Protection, This Activates If The Controller Detects A Short Circuit And Cuts Power From The Controller, Power Then Resumes And The Set Can Continue To Be Used. This Cut Out Will Likely Occur After A Derailment, Or If Metal Crosses The Rails Such As A Dropped Coupling Hook. Track: Track Should Be Set Up On A Flat, Level, Non-Fibrous, Non-Conductive Surface. There Are Some People In The Hobby That Run Their Locomotives On A Carpet, This Is Not Recommended Under Any Circumstances. Track Should Be Connected With All Fishplates Correctly Assembled Resulting In A SmootlÃ!
