Laxmi Punjabi Shakkar is a traditional unrefined sugar commonly used in South Asian cooking especially in Punjabi cuisine. Made from natural sugarcane juice it has a light golden-brown color and a coarse crystalline texture. Unlike highly refined white sugar Punjabi shakkar retains more of the natural molasses from sugarcane giving it a mild caramel-like flavor and a slightly earthy sweetness. It is widely used in desserts tea and traditional dishes such as kheer halwa and laddoos and is sometimes preferred for its more natural processing and richer taste. The Laxmi brand packages this sugar in convenient forms while preserving the authentic taste and quality valued in traditional recipes.
